Universal Thread by Target / Picks

Hello! 🙂

Target just launched their newest clothing line last weekend! AH, I had been waiting for weeks and was so excited to try on some of their times when Kyle + I walked by their new section in store.

It’s called Universal Thread and it has a focus on quality + trendy denim (not limited to jeans- they also feature denim skirts, dresses + tops). Sizes range from 00 to 18, with short, regular, and tall options + plus sizes! Read more about the brand here.

They also have a wide range of simple, classic tops, jackets, and accessories that are perfect for everyone (and for spring!)

All items are under $40!

I’ve always been a fan of Target, but this brand steps it up. The style reminds me of much higher-end brands like Madewell (but for a fraction of the cost).

I’m so excited to share some of my top picks from Universal Thread! I found the shirts + shoes to fit true to size & I sized down in their jeans because they have some stretch.

To see the whole range of their items (in all sizes) shop Target online.

6th Borough Boutique Review

Simplicity is my go-to when it comes to accessories.

Usually, this means not wearing any jewelry at all because I’m always rushing out the door or just don’t want to have to deal with the hassle.

So, I haven’t regularly worn jewelry since I was a little kid.

Recently, 6th Borough Boutique reminded me of why I used to enjoy wearing necklaces. They add a little extra something to an outfit and can be expressive or even symbolic.

My closet is full of neutral clothing, so pairing with a simple necklace has been the best way to mix it up (and dress it up).

The “K” gold initial necklace is my favorite! It’s slightly slanted + goes with every outfit! Also comes in silver.

Love always,

Cleo Madison: Stella Peplum Dress Review + Styling

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

Hi friends!

Spring is just around the corner, which means it’s the perfect time to stock up on casual dresses for when the sun comes out to play again!

I lean towards neutrals because they never go out of style! Neutrals are great for mixing + matching with patterns and bold colors. I love pairing neutrals with florals, stripes, and pastels in the springtime!

Black dresses are staple pieces, you can never have enough of them!

That being said, it can be difficult to find the perfect black dress to have as a staple in your closet. Considering fit, material, length, and price I have never found the perfect black dress for me (spoiler alert: until now).

Cleo Madison was kind enough to send me their Stella Peplum Dress! When I opened the package I was immediately impressed by how soft + stretchy the material is! Looks and feels high quality.

The sizing was true to size (I’m pictured in a small). It is a loose +flowy dress so it’s an easy option to throw on when you want to look cute and still feel comfortable. The subtle peplum style adds some shape + structure to the dress while making it more than your average basic dress. Let the dress do the work for you!

The best part about this dress is how versatile it is. Wear it all seasons- layered under an oversized cardigan in the fall and winter months, pair it with a lightweight jacket in the spring, & wear it by itself during the summer!

Accessorizing couldn’t be easier with this dress. It matches everything- go bold with statement jewelry, keep it simple with your favorite pair of sandals or ankle boots, or toss on patterned pieces!

I couldn’t be happier about finding my perfect black dress to wear all year long!

The dress retails for $34 and ships free. It is also available in light grey + navy.

Accessorizing with Velvet Scrunchies

Processed with VSCO with m5 preset

I love clothes, shoes, + makeup, but I’ve never been that into accessories.

The only accessories I ever wear are scarves + gloves (more for their functionality living in WA), baseball caps for bad hair days, and a black hair tie that is always on my wrist.

Jewelry, especially, has never interested me all that much. My ears are pierced, but 99% of the time I don’t wear earrings. I only own a couple of necklaces that I bring out for special occasions. And I have 0 bracelets or belts in my room.

So, I wouldn’t say I’m someone who loves to accessorize. That’s why I was surprised when I picked up a few velvet scrunchies while on a Target run recently.

The vintage feel of them caught my eye and the colors + velvet material made me think “why not try it?” (one example of how I never leave Target empty-handed lol).

I’ve been wearing daily them ever since then!

They actually work better than regular hair ties for my hair because they secure my hair better without pulling on it as tightly.

On top of that, they’re just so cute. To me, the two little extra pieces on the scrunchies look like a bow, but in the description they’re called bunny ears. Either way, they’re adorable!

These hair ties add a little something to an outfit and make accessorizing easy (and that means something coming from me!)

So whether you’re looking for an simple way to accessorize, in need of some new hair ties, or just an excuse to go to Target I recommend the Cat & Jack ones!

First Day of Winter Outfit

Winter is officially here in Washington!

I loved the outfit that I wore on the first day of winter so I wanted to share it!

What I’m wearing

  • Red lip : Sephora Cream Lip Stain in the shade Always Red, I pretty much only wear red lipstick during winter, and especially around the holidays, and this one lasts the longest + is affordable!
  • Camel coat: LOVE THIS, I just purchased it from Old Navy after searching around for a camel coat for awhile. This is definitely going to be a winter staple for me! It’s only available in black right now. Fortunately, Old Navy does have similar styles:

Also,  I listed a couple of other similar styles in this previous blog post.

  • Gingham: This top is from Clad & Cloth. Definitely runs small, I’d recommend getting at least a size bigger (if not two). I’ve been loving this pattern since fall 🙂
  • Levi’s jeans: Can be styled so many ways!
  • Affordable black faux leather boots from Lulus: these are a steal for only $37, only a few sizes are left at the moment though

What trends are you loving for winter? Let me know in the comments so I can check them out!

One last thing before you resume holiday festivities, I made a Poshmark account today and will be posting more items in the coming weeks. If you’re interested, feel free to follow me “karapatajo” 🙂

I just shared my first listing of  these cute wrap heels in size 7.5

Merry Christmas!

Fall staples // casual chic outfit

Good morning + happy monday!

It’s pouring in Seattle, but I wanted to share this simple fall outfit that I wore over the weekend because I’m wearing all staple pieces that are so comfortable + cute!

The grey wool jacket is from Zara. I love that the material is sweater-like because it’s so cozy, yet looks chic. It’s my go-to on dry autumn days. I purchased this in store a few weeks ago in downtown Seattle, but could not find it on their website.

Similar styles:

left to right:

  1. Wool blend coat by Halogen at Nordstrom $199
  2. Textured-Bouclé Everyday Coat for Women at Old Navy, comes in fir green, wine red, & black marl $69.99 (currently take 40%, only $42)
  3. Long Wool-Blend Coat at Abercrombie & Fitch, comes in dark grey, light grey (only M-XL in stock), & black and grey plaid, on sale for $132 (regularly $220)

These Levi’s are one of my favorite pairs! I saw them on so many style bloggers and had to have them. I ordered them from Amazon , currently retailing for $88. They fit true to size and I’m wearing a 25. Love the high-waisted fit + knee rips.

I just recently got these loafers in the mail from Target. Again, so many style bloggers have been raving about them so I wanted to try them for myself. The inside is faux fur + so warm! I love that they dress up any outfit but are still kinda cozy like slippers.

The fit is true to size & they also come in blush pink.

And then my top is just a basic black tee and I knotted it since the jeans are high-waisted and because why not? 🙂

Thank you for reading!

Saving Paige Boutique // Shop for a purpose

Happy Friday!

With fall weather settling in I’ve been updating my wardrobe and discovered a new online store with a greater purpose than just selling clothes.

Saving Paige Boutique donates 5% of all sales to someone in need. On their site you can read the story of the current recipient.

Right now, the boutique is supporting Rebecca, a 23 year old from Florida who is battling with high risk cytogenic Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Proceeds help to cover medical expenses, including chemotherapy.

It’s so refreshing to find a business that gives back and allows shoppers to see exactly what the cause is.

In terms of the shop itself, Saving Paige Boutique sells stylish, affordable women’s clothing + accessories + baby clothing.

I especially love their tops + dresses!

Here’s a look at some of my favorite pieces! (All are available on Saving Paige’s website, some in limited sizes + quantities left)

If you want to shop from them and save, you can use the code “kara10” to receive 10% off your order!

My top 3:

Top to bottom: Cleopatra dress, Cottage dress, Molly dress

Women’s Tops

Top to bottom: Reindeer sweater, Ezra top, Layla top

Marley Moto Jeans

Top to bottom:  Emilia dress, Sunset dress, Sadie Dress

Top to bottom: Mommy + Baby Beanie, June Tee + Jumpsuit, Jane Jumpsuit, Baby Kenzie Ruffle Tee + Pant, Milly Moccasin

You can find all of these items by clicking HERE and then searching the name!

Once again, Saving Paige Boutique was kind enough to give us a coupon code to save 10%! Enter “kara10” at checkout to save 🙂

Trending: The Gingham Dress

Fall in the Pacific Northwest is for rainboots, rain jackets, &… gingham?!

This season I’ve been loving the gingham pattern (black + white squares). Who else is with me?!

I’ve been loving this dress not only because of the pattern + neutral colors, but because of the layers which add a twist of feminity to the piece. The sleeves have a bell finish too.

It’s perfect for throwing on during a sunny(ish) fall day or when I want to look put-together without much effort.

Pairs perfectly with Hunter boots, booties, sneakers, flats, or sandals (if you’re like me & refuse to let go of summer).

So far, it’s my favorite fall dress this year. Target does it again.

What are your favorite gingham pieces?? Let me know in the comments so I can check them out 😉

Dress details: K by Kersh- Target (I’m pictured in size xs, and there’s plenty of room so I recommend sizing down!) plus, it ships free!
